This website has been developed to determine if there is community support in exploring a permanent stage or additional hardscaped surface for outdoor performances and events in Depot Park, and if so, to provide all news and resources about the project if it moves forward. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to the right on this webpage for all the details on this project.

The City of Whitefish believes community participation is a critical component of the planning process and understands community members are holders of local knowledge. We invite you to subscribe to this site (located at top right) to receive information which will be provided through website updates, emailed newsletters, any upcoming events and posting of text, and documents.

Along with in-person meetings, participation will be possible through message boards viewable to the public and any surveys we post. In addition to the benefit of allowing users to engage and interact online, the website makes it possible for community members who might not typically attend public meetings or workshops due to job situations, financial constraints, childcare needs or other difficulties, to participate at their convenience.

Stick with the approved Master Plan from 2012!1 There is not enough need for a permanent stage in Depot Park, and most of the time it would just sit there unused and blocking sight lines, and basically become an "attractive nuisance." Not every event held at the park requires a stage, and those that do can continue to put up a temporary one at their expense.

We do not support a permanent stage for the following reasons:
1. Permanent structure would attract overnight vagrants.
2. Steps up to the stage would be opportunity for young children to play, fall, injure themselves, liability possibility for the city.
3. It would reduce the green space we need for the farmers market.
4. Keeping the green space open allows for open ended play for both people and dogs.
5. The permanent structure would obscure the view of the historic train station.
5. It’s a public park, lets keep it that way please!

I would prefer that Depot Park remain an open green space in accordance with the Master Development plan and that you do not build a permanent stage. After removing the small building in the southwest corner, it would be ridiculous to build another permanent structure that will only be used 10-15 nights a year. If you build a stage, there will be requests for more events and us local residents will never have a chance to enjoy depot park for a walk or play with our dog.

I support improving our green spaces and the safety and infrastructure of our trails and parks. I do not support a permanent stage in depot park for more events and increased industrial tourism.

I support the existing master plan with the maximum green space and view scapes. I do not support a permanent stage.
